Welcome to the web-site of the 'Learning at home, learning at school' action research project.
The project is funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) over two years from 2007-09, to identify how schools can support parents with their children's "at home" learning and development. It aims to provide policymakers with evidence for designing effective schemes, and to demonstrate to schools how they can develop or extend their current practice.
ECOTEC Research and Consulting Ltd are managing the project, in partnership with NIACE and Professor John Bastiani. The partners are also working with a core group of local authorities, who will be supported to exchange good practice and test new methods using an 'action research' methodology. The project incorporates six pilot schemes, each of which takes a specific approach towards engaging parents in their children's learning.
